Why the sticker price is the wrong number to compare
An EV usually costs more to buy and dramatically less to run. What matters is total cost of ownership — purchase minus subsidies, plus financing, energy, maintenance and insurance. Home charging is often roughly ₹1–2/km against ₹6–8/km for petrol; two-wheelers can be ₹0.15–0.30 vs ₹2–3. Check whether that gap covers the premium for your distance and tariff.
